Note: Pulau Tiga Resort, is now called : Pulau Tiga Survivor Resort. Not sure why the management has done this, but this is low budget accommodation and service. Please note, that Borneo is not cheap, but Pulau Tiga is much cheaper than Lankayan Island, Mataking, PomPom or Kapalai, to name a few. Therefore, you can not expect the same service level in, accommodation, food and staff. Please note, that the accommodation is outdated. I heard that a budget is approved to upgrade, but.. again, you are warned. Many people really can enjoy a stay at Pulau Tiga, others are more concerned about the tiles in the bathroom.
Itinerary:
Day1: 0730-0800am, pickup from your hotel in KK for a 2 hours drive to the south of Kota Kinabalu. You will arrive in a small town called Kuala Penyu where the jetty is to Pulau Tiga and the boat to the island leaves at 1000am. After you reach the ‘survivor island’ you get a briefing from the resorts friendly staff. After checking into your chalet, you have the time to explore this island. If you wish you will get a guided tour to the mud-volcano, but for those adventurous under you, it is easy to find by your self and if you lucky, take a private mud bath with your partner. Overnight in Pulau Tiga. (lunch, dinner)
Day 2: After breakfast you can follow an optional tour to the Sand Pit for snorkelling and also to snake island by boat. It is a twenty minute boat ride and leads to the backside of the islands to a Sand Pit where you can enjoy the best snorkelling. Also there is a tiny island with rocks, where poisenes sea snakes rest in daytime. These are the most poisoned snakes in the world and no anti venom is available, but they are totally non aggressive. Don’t worry, till now, no accidents have happened. After this snake seeking adventure you have free the rest of the day, snorkel, dive or relax on this beautiful island. Overnight in Pulau Tiga.
